How moove started

In March 2020 a small group of friends found themselves without access to any of their usual workout options. Gyms were closed, trails roped off, golf courses still, basketball and tennis courts locked up - even a walk to work was no longer a given. Enter: moove. Originally named Pelovid [for obvious reasons], teams were formed and that small group had one call to action: MOVE. EVERYDAY. FOR YOUR TEAM. Their vehicle? The Peloton. Daily challenges within the group motivated, entertained and held members accountable, and what started small began to grow. In May 2020 60 people joined the competition…by July 2020, 260 people were ALL IN … and in October 2020 a staggering 520 people said “Let's moove!” Competition, consistency, connection, self-care: these are just a few of the reasons our community mooves.

No longer just a Peloton competition, moovements now include exercises from hikes, to hoops to HIIT classes and less strenuous activities like walking and weeding. And the moove user community ranges from professional athletes to couch potatoes just looking for that extra push. Today, we continue to evolve and grow; now with a dedicated website and multiple leagues to accommodate moovers worldwide.

moove was created as a way to reconnect some friends in a very disconnected time. Born out of boredom and isolation, moove continues to grow and carve out its own space in the ever-changing online workout world. So, are you ready to moove? LET'S GO!

Getting started
  1. Rally your friends

Friends from college who you haven’t been in touch with for a while? Couples who want to do something together? Parents and siblings? Work colleagues? Any of the above make for a great Moove team.

Once you have a good sense of who’ll be on your team, choose a captain to register and create the team.

  2. How to Create a Team

It all starts with you, Team Captain! We love your initiative!

  3. Make a Moove account

Go to ‘Sign Up’ and register. This will take less than a minute and all team members will have to do this once you add them to the team.

  4. Make a team

Once your team has decided on a league, you will need to pick a captain. There isn’t a lot of responsibility here, but the captain will have to ‘Make a Team’.

  5. Pick a league

Many teams will have people from multiple areas, so feel free to join the league that you think fits you best geographically or socially. Consider joining a league where you know people, even if the league doesn’t align with your current location or hometown. Each league has a set cap on the number of players allowed on each team, so be mindful of your team’s size when selecting a league.

  6. Create a team and add your teammates

Once you’ve created the team, copy and send the team registration link to all team members so that they can join and complete their profile.

  7. How to Join a Team

Your team captain will send you a registration link. Click through and build out your profile and you’ll be ready to go!

Rules and regulations
  1. Sportsmanship

The completion of activities and times entered are based on the honor system. Rule of thumb: if you don’t feel good about adding it, you probably shouldn’t.

Using a wearable or a phone app, technologically trackable exercises (e.g. a run, a Peloton ride, an online class, etc.) are easily and accurately logged by referencing your records. For technologically untrackable activities, log your exercise honestly.

Log your activity as you go. This is:

    1. Good sportsmanship. Your team as well as your competitors should see point standings in real time. Hoarding points and posting them at the last minute is truly poor sportsmanship.

    2. Easy for you to do. You probably have the internet right in your phone. No excuses.

    3. Best practice. Would be a shame if you ran five miles and forgot to log it!

  2. Substitutions

If a sub is required on your team for injury or otherwise, the captain is responsible for engaging a sub to fill the spot. The original team member cannot return to the competition until the following week. During the playoff week, no subs will be allowed once the week begins. Captain: When a sub is required, remove the benched team member and invite a sub to join. At the end of the week, remove the sub and ask the original team member to rejoin the team.

    Moovements and Point Values

Any exercise time or miles/reps entered should be a purposeful activity done with the intent of exercising/moving your body. All Moovements should be logged immediately.

Regular daily activities like laundry, picking up toys, and grocery shopping do not earn any points.

Double counting is NOT allowed Ex. If there are squats and sit ups in your exercise class, you cannot earn points for both the class and the sit up/squats. Choose one or the other.

  3. Point Entry

All players must input scores as close as possible to the time the activity/exercise was completed. All team members must enter their own individual scores throughout the day. [more] Other members of your team do not have the ability to enter points on your behalf, nor can points be retroactively added to a previous day’s score. In the final hour of each week’s competition, no team member may enter more than 30 points in that final hour. At the end of the day we want this competition to be fun, fair and feel good for all who participate. Holding points is *NOT* allowed!
